Missouri Supreme Court Hands Riezman Berger, P.C. Victory in St. Louis County Embezzlement Lawsuit
Nelson Mitten successfully represented Investors Title Company in its lawsuit against St. Louis County to recover more than $700,000 in funds embezzled by a former clerk in the St. Louis County Record of Deeds Office. Nelson Mitten won the lawsuit at the Circuit Court trial, the Missouri Court of Appeals and the Missouri Supreme Court. When St. Louis County threw everything at the Plaintiff but the kitchen sink, Nelson Mitten stuck to his approach to trying and winning lawsuits, which is being prepared at every step of the lawsuit, and being able to stay focused on key evidence that supports the client’s position in the case. When asked what the key to his success was, Nelson Mitten responded “The key to every case is thorough legal research and development of the facts to prove your case. Winning is not about who can make the most noise, but instead it all comes down to being focused on the law and the facts.”
Nelson L. Mitten’s areas of practice include civil trials and civil appeals primarily in the areas of general commercial law, commercial torts, creditor’s rights, real estate, and employment litigation. Nelson has been lead counsel for trials and appeals at all levels of both the state and the federal court systems.
Nelson is licensed in Missouri and Illinois, in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri and in the Central, Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois.
